About Us

Welcome to Music 4 Memories, my name is Jo, and our story is inspired by my father, David Murdoch, who experienced many difficulties throughout his dementia journey. Whilst caring for him, I saw the  amazing benefits listening to music had on his overall happiness, as well as its effects on memory.

A World Where Music Heals

Our Story

While caring for my dad, who had dementia and a rapid cognitive decline, I recognised that music could reach him in ways that words or pictures could not, so I sought to find a way to incorporate music into his care.

I looked for products that would allow him to enjoy music tailored to his generation, but I soon found that it was difficult to source music that was free from the hassle of changing CDs or the interruptions of DJs, news, and traffic reports on the radio. As well as finding a means of listening to music that was comfortable and easy for him to use.

Creating a Product

Unable to find an existing product that met my dad’s needs fully, I was inspired to fill this gap in the market, to help other people living with dementia to access the benefits of music. From here, Music 4 Memories was born.

Music 4 Memories is dedicated to my wonderful dad, David Murdoch, who has inspired me to help others to lift their spirits and unlock lost Memories of their childhood through the power of music.
